COME STAY WITH US
Welcome to Muckle Cottages, a small family-run collection of lovingly restored holiday cottages in Northumberland and rural France.
Whether you want to lose yourself in the wild beauty of the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland National Park, feel the sand between your toes on the Northumberland Coast, explore castles, beaches and historic villages, or relax in the peaceful countryside of Charente in South West France, we have a holiday stay that feels just right.
Our cottages and gîte have each been carefully chosen and restored to create comfortable, cosy and characterful places to stay. From walking holidays in the hills to family beach breaks and relaxed French countryside escapes, Muckle Cottages offers self-catering accommodation with warmth, charm and a real sense of place.
Muckle Cottages was created by Stew and Fritha in 2019, after they restored Sundial Cottage in Netherton, a derelict former village sweetshop and post office once linked to the Armstrong Estate. Since then, they have added two more special properties to the collection: a coastal cottage near the Northumberland beaches and L’Etang, their peaceful gîte in rural Charente, South West France.
Each property was once empty and in need of care. Today, they have been lovingly refurbished to give guests a comfortable base for exploring the beautiful countryside, coastlines, markets, vineyards and villages that make Northumberland and rural France such special places to visit.
